Edwina Strobl is a stage director working in comedy, drama and opera. Her skills include developing new works, testing the boundaries of genre and empowering performers through play and collaboration. She is passionate about stories that use humour and bold theatricality to interrogate the contemporary world, while at the same time delighting and inspiring audiences.
Edwina was a finalist for the Royal Ballet & Opera’s 2025 Jette Parker Artist Director role and Opera Holland Park’s Young Artist Director in 2025.
She trained with the Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artist Programme for emerging directors from 2019-2020. She was a StoneCrabs Young Director 2016-17. She received an MA in Text and Performance from Birkbeck and RADA and holds a BA in History from University College London. She is the Artistic Director of London based production company Flugelman Productions which focusses on the development of work with emerging artists.
Edwina is half Austrian and half Australian. She grew up in Sydney, on land of the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. She based between Sydney and London.
